Lowe Wins metalwork contract for Skanska Academy

Lowe Engineering have been awarded the metalwork contract for the £30m design and build contract for Skanska with the London Borough of Redbridge to design and construct a school in Ilford in northeast London

Lowe will be responsible for the detailing, Manufacture and Installation of the Architectural Metalwork and Secondary Steelwork .Skanska will be responsible for the technical design and construction of the Isaac Newton Academy, which will accommodate about 1,250 secondary students.

The project comprises an 11,500m2building, divided into four schools for various levels. Each school will have separate entrances and schoolyards.

The school building will be designed and constructed to meet stringent environmental requirements, with a particular focus on energy efficiency.

Construction work will commence immediately and will be completed in time for the new school year in summer 2012.
